President Milei invited Pope Francis to visit Argentina

Buenos Aires, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Argentine President Javier Milei invited Pope Francis to visit this country, in a letter released by his office.

I thank you for your very significant phone call on November 22, after my election. I value your wise advice and your wishes of courage and wisdom for me, so necessary to face the challenges of directing the destinies of our country, begins the letter published on the social network X.

“You well know that you do not need an invitation to come to your beloved Argentina. At the risk of saying the unnecessary, I invite you to visit our beloved homeland, according to the dates and places that will be indicated to us, bearing in mind the widespread desire of our cities, provinces and towns to count on your presence and to convey their filial affection,” Milei adds.

The letter also points out that the trip of the Supreme Pontiff “will bring fruits of pacification and brotherhood of all Argentines, anxious to overcome divisions and confrontations”.

His presence and message will contribute to the much desired unity of all our compatriots and will provide us with the collective strength necessary to preserve peace and work for the prosperity and enhancement of our Republic, he said.

I know that time is short. Even so, I hope that you will be able to travel to the general joy of all the people. I reiterate to His Holiness the assurances of my highest consideration and respect for his work and person, the letter concludes.

During the campaign prior to the general elections, the leader of La Libertad Avanza pointed out that the Supreme Pontiff was an “unpresentable and nefarious character”, insulted him with adjectives such as “representative of the evil on Earth” and allowed the economist Alberto Benegas to speak of terminating diplomatic relations with the Vatican.
