Cuba and EAEU strengthen relations

persidente
Havana, Jan 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) seek to strengthen a mutually beneficial cooperation that will promote trade, joint production, and investment, high-ranking officials confirmed recently in this capital.

“I hope we can continue to develop our relations coherently,” President Miguel Díaz-Canel said at a meeting with Sergei Glazyev, Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics at the Eurasian Economic Commission (EAEC).

Glazyev traveled to Havana to participate in the 3rd Meeting of the Joint Commission for Cooperation between the EAEC and Cuba on January 15. The previous session took place in late 2021.

According to the head of State, the meeting was successful because “advancing, expanding, and strengthening relations with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is a priority,” as they are based on existing plans and increasing ties with the bloc’s members.

Glazyev, in turn, expressed his gratitude for the support provided by Cuba, a strategic and faithful country with which the Commission coincides in economic and political positions.

Led by Ricardo Cabrisas, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Minister, and Glazyev, the 2024 Forum appreciated the dialogue between experts from both sides, based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2018 and the Joint Cooperation Plan for the 2021-2025 period.
