Honduras anti-corruption fight stands out among government advances

Tegucigalpa, Jan 23 (Prensa Latina) The secretary of the presidency of Honduras, Rodolfo Pastor, highlighted the fight against corruption is among the most important advances registered by the government led by President Xiomara Castro.

He also highlighted in a television forum that one of the greatest achievements of the Honduran Executive, after almost two years in power, is the reorganization of the State’s finances, Poder Popular newspaper reported, and quote that Pastor commented that this initiative has eliminated the main corrupt practices which allowed previous administrations to make discretionary use of resources.

In this sense, he described the trusts as one of the biggest examples of corruption in this nation, for which tens of billions of lempiras were managed in the last eight years.

Referring to the return of State resources to the single treasury, Pastor affirmed that this act constitutes a major achievement of the administration of the first woman president of Honduras, and added that it obliges them to act with transparency.

The Honduran president has reiterated on several occasions that the neoliberal administrations dismantled the State and handed over the economy to private interests which prevent the approval in the National Congress of the Tax Justice Law.

According to the governor, organized crime elites impoverished and indebted the people, as they made large fortunes of money.
