The CEO stressed that with the help of a robot it is possible to prepare the workplace, then the cosmonaut leaves, performs a specific task and then this site is cleaned after him by an android controlled by a person from the station or the Earth.
“Also in the case when a cosmonaut cannot go out into outer space, but it is necessary to fulfill a task promptly, in such situations it is logical to use robots. By using them, the time to complete the task can be reduced many times over,” the executive said. Dudorov noted that in the future they will be able to perform tasks that, in principle, are not carried out by humans outside the stations.
“Let’s take satellite repair, for example. Now there are a number of satellites where it is necessary to replace elements or perform other minor repairs, so as not to have to send a new satellite and not leave the old one hanging around in space, it is possible, with a robot to repair it, Dudorov noted.
However, to reach that level, it is necessary to develop fine motor skills in state-of-the-art androids, on which work is already underway, the Dudorov concluded.
