US bases in Syria come under drone, rocket attacks

Damascus, Feb 3 (Prensa Latina) Two illegal US military bases in the northeast of Syria were under drone and rocket attacks, as reported by local activists.

According to the sources, the military bases attacked were Tanef base in the east of Syria and close to the Iraqi-Jordanian border, and Green Village base located in the Al-Omar oil field in the east of the eastern province of Deir Ezzor.

The strikes come just hours after U.S. Army fighter-bombers attacked several sites of the Syrian army and its allies in the east.

The self-styled Islamic Resistance in Iraq claimed responsibility for these actions and assured they are part of the continuous response to the U.S. support to Israel’s war against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

US military bases in Syria and Iraq have been attacked more than 150 times in the last three months, according to Pentagon officials.

Washington still maintains some fifteen military bases on Syrian territory without the consent of the Damascus government or the approval of the United Nations.

Syria has repeatedly condemned the illegal US military base presence, which it described as an occupation and assured the actions of the U.S. military on Syrian territory encourage terrorist activity and aim at destabilizing the country and plundering its wealth.
