Romero told Prensa Latina that the project wants to diversify the work of support in coordination with local sports authorities that will initially benefit Pinar del Rio, Havana, and Camagüey provinces.
According to the Cuban resident in Belgium, the humanitarian project will initially focus on volleyball, sponsoring this discipline at the Sports Initiation School in Pinar del Río and supporting municipalities in Havana and Camagüey provinces.
The first donations have already arrived in Cuba. They consist of uniforms, balls, protective gear, and essential equipment for strength training.
The association also wants to promote the exchange of experience on practicing volleyball in both countries, especially the work with children, the former top athlete said.
With the support of Belgian organizations, citizens, and Cuban residents in the European country, Cuba Soberana has shipped to Cuba three containers with medical equipment and supplies in 2021 and one in 2023.
