Resistance leader killed in bombing in Iraq

ATENTADO-IRAQ-768x445
Baghdad, Feb 7 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the Hizbullah-Iraq Brigades, Abu Baquer al-Saadi, was assassinated today as a result of a bombing of the Al-Mashtal area in the east of the capital.

According to local media, an aerial attack with a drone targeted a civilian car that killed three people and injured two others.

ABC NEWS cited US officials who confirmed Washington’s execution of an airstrike against a target in Baghdad.

The Security Media Cell in Iraq announced that a specialized technical team began investigating the incident to determine the method and source of the attack.

After the attack, Iraqis flocked to the scene of the murder and chanted slogans against the North American administration and reaffirmed their support to the resistance.

Last week, the United States bombed the Akashat and Al-Qaim regions, resulting in the death of 16 citizens, in addition to 25 injuries and losses of residential buildings.

At the end of January, the United States caused casualties in an attack against bases of the army and the Popular Mobilization Forces, in the areas of Jurf Al-Nasr and Al-Qaim.

At the beginning of the year, a bombing raid on the headquarters of the Popular Mobilization Forces, east of the capital, resulted in the fall of two martyrs, including an assistant to the commander of operations in the Baghdad region, Mushtaq Taleb al-Saadi, while six other people suffered injuries.

In late 2023, American forces launched a series of attacks against the Hizbullah-Iraq Brigade sites in Hilla, central Babel, and in the Taj al-Din district north of Wasit, as well as in Jurf al-Nasr, south of Baghdad.

The Hizbullah-Iraq Brigades carried out numerous military operations against US occupation bases in the country and Syria since the start of the Al-Aqsa Flood battle, in support of the Gaza Strip and its resistance, before announcing the suspension of the shares at the end of January.

In the midst of these aggressions, the government of Iraq emphasized that these actions constitute a violation of national sovereignty, undermine the government’s efforts and represent a threat to the country and the region.

At the same time, it reiterated its refusal to allow its lands to be a stage for settling scores between opposing countries, and renewed its commitment to protect the nation from any hostility.

Also, the government considered that the presence of the International Coalition, led by the United States, diverted from the assigned tasks and constitutes a reason for a threat to security and stability in Iraqi territory.
