In a message sent to the general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (PCV), Nguyen Phu Trong, on the advent of the Lunar New Year, Díaz-Canel stressed that Vietnam’s achievements in 2023 reaffirm the successful leadership of that political organization 94 years after its founding.

When referring to the constitution of the PCV on February 3, 1930, the Cuban head of State noted that it synthesized the fighting traditions of the heroic Vietnamese people and the extraordinary political vision of President Ho Chi Minh.

Díaz-Canel also sent the warmest congratulations and best wishes for well-being to Phu Trong and the Vietnamese people, which he reiterated in another message addressed to Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong.

The Cuban president told Van Thuong that “we celebrate Vietnam’s indisputable achievements in the year that ends as ours and we have the firm conviction that 2024 will bring new milestones of reciprocal solidarity and mutual political trust.”

The occasion is conducive to reiterating the desire to continue to consolidate the close relations of brotherhood between our countries, he stressed.

In a note to his counterpart, Pham Minh Chinh, Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz ratified the intention to continue to materialize the consensus reached in recent high-level bilateral contacts, as a significant contribution to comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.

Meanwhile, in a message to Vietnamese Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son, his Cuban counterpart, Bruno Rodríguez, reiterated the decision to further strengthen the brotherhood and mutual trust that have distinguished the exemplary relations between the two nations.
