Cuba’s Foreign Minister evokes combatant Leandro Sandrino

Havana, Feb 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez evoked Leandro Sandrino Izquierdo, a worker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who fell in a battle, 48 years ago, while fulfilling an internationalist mission in Angola.

Rodriguez stressed in his account on the social network X that revolutionary diplomacy will always defend the legacy of patriotism, altruism, and solidarity of Cuban martyrs.

Sandrino Izquierdo traveled to Angola together with other Cuban combatants to defend the independence of that African nation.

He participated in several combats as chief of a squad of sappers, outstanding for his bravery and heroism.

He was awarded the XX Anniversary and First Class Internationalist Combatant medals, as well as the Pedro Sotto Alba Order of Merit.

Currently, the Military Unit where he fought and the Association of Combatants of the Cuban Revolution of the municipality of Habana del Este bear the name of Leandro Sandrino Izquierdo.
