According to Agriculture Minister Czeslaw Siekierski, the reason for the embargo is the instability of the markets. This embargo could also include sugar, honey, and chicken.

Siekierski also told ZET radio station that Polish farmers were protesting for a just cause.

A nationwide protest of farmers began across the country late last week.

They are blocking roads and checkpoint entrances on the border with Ukraine.

The farmers are protesting against the import of agricultural products from Ukraine, including grain.
