90 percent of Lebanese blamed U.S. for aggression over Gaza

Beirut, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) 90% of the surveyed people in Lebanon held the United States accountable for the Israeli aggression over Gaza and the south of the country, an opinion poll revealed Monday.

According to the poll by the Lebanese Consultative Center for Studies and Documentation, the United States is the major reason behind the escalated situation and the lack of a ceasefire in Gaza.

Four months after Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, the survey conducted by the Lebanese research institute included a sample of 400 people from various regions of the country (51.2% men and 48.8% women).

The religious distribution of the group studied was as follows: 29.5% Sunni, 29.5% Shiite, 34% Christians and 7% Druze.

What stands out in the survey is that the U.S. position was strongly condemned by all religious sects, attributing to Joe Biden’s administration the responsibility for Israel´s attacks in proportions close to or higher than 84%.

In this regard, 94.1% of Shiites, 92.4% of Sunnis, 83.8% of Christians and 92.9% of Druze considered the United States as major reason behind the Israeli offensive.

On the other hand, one third of respondents agreed that the Islamic Resistance in Lebanon (Hezbollah) takes into account national interests in supporting the Palestinian people.

In this regard, about 60% stated that Hezbollah’s strength deters the Israeli enemy from carrying out an all-out aggression against the nation.

Incidentally, a majority of Shiites (90.7%), two-thirds of Sunnis (66.1%) and more than half of Druze (53.6%) support this claim, while less than half of Christians (40.4%) agree.
