Syria expresses its solidarity with the Palestinian people

Damascus, Feb 19 (Prensa Latina) Political forces and heads of several diplomatic missions accredited here, including Cuba, expressed their support for the rights of the Palestinian people, in an act organized at the national library in this capital.

The meeting held under the title “Stop the aggression and genocide of the Zionist occupier”, began with a minute of silence in honor and memory of the souls of the thousands of Palestinians killed, and then, the notes of the national anthems of Palestine and Syria were sung.

In his remarks, the Cuban ambassador to Syria, Luis Mariano Fernandez, ratified the historic solidarity of the people and government of the island with the Palestinian cause and assured that a comprehensive, just and lasting solution based on the creation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state, within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, cannot be postponed.

Every moment of inaction and passivity towards what is happening in Palestine will cost more innocent lives and immediate action must be taken, the diplomat stressed.

He considered that Cuba will continue to contribute as much as possible to the legitimate international efforts in putting an end to this barbarism.

History will not forgive the unconcerned. Cuba will not be among them. It is time stop the philosophy of dispossession so that the philosophy of war dies for lack of incentives, said the head of the diplomatic mission quoting President Miguel Diaz Canel.

The ambassador of the State of Palestine in Damascus, Samir Al-Rifai, denounced the silence of Western countries to the crimes of murder, destruction and displacement committed by Israel.

He explained that the attachment of the Palestinian people to their land and their resistance are the practical response to the plans being hatched to end the Palestinian cause, and called for national unity among Palestinians as the only path to greater steadfastness and victory.

Similarly, Tunisia’s ambassador to Damascus, Muhammad Al-Mahdhabi, explained that holding this meeting is a clear message that national unity is the rock on which all Zionist conspiracies will be broken.

While the counselor of the Algerian Embassy in Damascus, Farouk Al-Anani, confirmed that his country has always supported all initiatives to stop this genocide and prosecute the officials of the Zionist entity, and will continue to support the Palestinian cause until victory and the end of the occupation.

The positions of Venezuela and Iran in support of the Palestinian struggle to obtain their legitimate rights were highlighted during the event.
