Argentine state workers denounce layoffs

Buenos Aires, Mar 15 (Prensa Latina) The Association of State Workers (ATE) of Argentina will carry out a mobilization in front of the Ministry of Human Capital to denounce the Government's intentions to lay off over 70 thousand workers.

In a statement, ATE explained that these contracts in the National Public Administration end on March 31st, and it is likely that the Executive will not renew them.

According to the union, the affected people are workers who have 10, 15 and even more than 20 years of seniority.

“Sandra Pettovello leads the Inhuman Ministry, of the Dismantling of the State and Destruction of the People,” stated the general secretary of ATE, Rodolfo Aguiar. “We state workers decided to deepen our fighting plan. We are going to mobilize to put a stop to this attempt to reduce the State to its minimum expression,” he announced.

“We demand the continuity and regularization of labor ties. We defend every job and public policies, a State that in times of deep crisis like the one we are going through, is more necessary than ever,” Aguiar added. He also denounced that the Government of Javier Milei intends to “eradicate rights, eliminate jobs and destroy the income of the entire population. All of this cannot be stopped by dialogue, but by fighting.”
