Delegation from Russian Ministry of Culture visits DPRK

Pyongyang, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) A delegation from the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation is visiting the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the economic and cultural cooperation agreement between the two countries.

The state news agency KCNA reported on Tuesday that the group is headed by Deputy Minister Andrei Maluishev and is composed of the artistic ensemble of the branch of the Mariinsky Theater in this territory, among others.

DPRK Deputy Minister of Culture Pak Kyong Chol and officials from the Russian Embassy in Pyongyang welcomed them at Pyongyang’s International Airport.

In September 2023, on the occasion of the visit to Russia of Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and chairman of the State Affairs Committee, the two countries agreed to strengthen ties in all fields.

During a recent visit to Russia, Foreign Minister Choe Son Hui conveyed Kim’s invitation to President Vladimir Putin to visit the DPRK.

KCNA reported at the time that the Russian president had expressed his ‘deep appreciation’ for the invitation and assured that he would attend to it ‘at an appropriate time’ soon.
