Ukraine reports heavy losses in attacks on Kursk and Belgorod

Moscow, Mar 20 (Prensa Latina) The Ukrainian army reported more than 3,500 casualties in the attacks on the Russian provinces of Belgorod and Kursk, in only eight days, Minister of Defense Sergey Shoigu informed on Wednesday.

According to the Minister at a meeting with senior Russian military commanders, 790 of the enemy losses are irrecoverable, while all the attacks were successfully repelled and the Ukrainian troops were driven beyond the territory of the Federation.

The most intense fighting took place in the area of the village of Kozinka, in the Belgorod region, Shoigu said.

The incursion into Kozinka took place on March 14, when a Ukrainian sabotage group penetrated into Russian territory and tried to barricade itself in one of the houses of the village, after which it was blocked by the Russian forces.

February 24 marked two years since the beginning of Russia’s military operation, the aims of which, according to Russian President Vladimir Putin, are to protect the population from “genocide by the current Kiev authorities, as well as countering the national security risks posed by the advance of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to the east.
