Venezuela’s CNE receives new nominations for presidential elections

Caracas, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) Venezuela’s National Electoral Council (CNE) received on Friday new candidates’ nominations from political parties for the July 28 presidential elections, whose registration process will end on March 25.

CNE’s highest authorities led by its Chair Elvis Amoroso received in its Caracas headquarters proposals from forces affiliated to the Great Patriotic Pole Simon Bolivar, such as “the Homeland for All,” “Green” and “Alliance for Change” parties, among others.

Those progressive organizations, as previously stated, presented separately to the Electoral Power President Nicolas Maduro as their nominee, who had already been proposed on Thursday by the Communist Party and For Social Democracy one.

Likewise, opposition parties presented their candidacy as “Alianza del Lapiz” (Pencil Alliance) and “Avanzada Progresista” (Progressive Advance) appointing politician Antonio Ecarri, who acknowledged the plurality existing nowadays in Venezuela, and called for the reconstruction of trust for the holding of the presidential elections.

Another of the political leaders of the right wing who went to the CNE for his postulation was Juan Carlos Alvarado, belonging to the Independent Electoral Political Organization Committee, known as COPEI.

Alvarado advocated for meetings and debates among Venezuelans to define the best ways to strengthen domestic institutions, and listen to the people’s expectations from the political leadership.

Amoroso stated that they will continue to welcome candidates who come to the electoral body to present their documents, as established by the Constitution and national laws.

CNE’s chair wished good luck to all candidates and political organizations that support them.

The authority emphasized that those who comply with requirements will be included, but those who “are outside the law or do not comply with requirements,” will not have the opportunity given by the Venezuelan people by means of the Magna Carta.
