Judicial office orders coercive measures against Dom. viceconsul

Duarte, Dominican Republic, Apr 2 (Prensa Latina) The Judicial Office of Permanent Attention Services of Duarte province today imposed coercive measures on the vice consul of the Dominican Republic in Haiti, Rafy Joel Peralta, for alleged sexual abuse of a minor.

The complaint against him was filed about a month ago in the community of Mata Larga, in San Francisco de Macoris, Duarte province.

The measures consist of a financial guarantee of one million pesos (about US$17,000) and regular appearances, reported Acento newspaper.

The Dominican Foreign Ministry informed on 27 March the decision to suspend Joel Peralta from his functions until the conclusion of the investigation by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The official was appointed in the Consulate of the neighboring nation by decree number 422-22, issued by President Luis Abinader, on 29 August 2022.

Joel Peralta voluntarily presented himself before the Regional Sub-Directorate of Investigation of San Francisco de Macoris.
