Putin highlights progress in Russia-Belarus relations

Moscow, Apr 2 (Prensa Latina) President Vladimir Putin highlighted on Tuesday the progress in relations with neighboring Belarus on the 28th anniversary of a treaty that paved the way for the two countries' integration.

“Despite a complex international situation, Russia and Belarus have developed multifaceted relations and strengthened the institutions of the Union State,” Putin stressed in a congratulatory message to his Belarusian counterpart Alexandr Lukashenko, released by the Kremlin press office.

In the congratulatory message on the Day of Unity of the Peoples of Russia and Belarus on April 2, Putin noted, “The coordination of efforts in foreign policy, defense, and security is yielding good results.”

The president pointed out that Russia and Belarus have unified their laws in the most significant areas, created the basis for implementing a unified policy in the macroeconomic and monetary spheres, and established a common socio-economic space.
