Denounced artificial campaign on networks against president of Mexico

Mexico City, April 3 (Prensa Latina) Some 20 million messages, most of them from bots, were published on the social network issue.

An investigation by Spanish analyst Julián Macías referred to such a campaign, classified as a dirty war, in which they try to link both the ruler and the presidential candidate of the ruling coalition. We continue making history, Claudia Sheinbaum, with organized crime, without presenting evidence.

According to the information released this Wednesday at the Head of State’s usual press conference, the most used hashtag is #NarcoPresidenteAMLO and its variants, which have had 20 million tweets published by 350 thousand different accounts.

Meanwhile, the hashtag #NarcoCandidataSheinbaum, against the presidential candidate of the National Regeneration Movement and allied political formations, reached more than 10 million messages on said platform.

Although there are numerous indicators that point to the artificiality of the campaign, the analyst highlighted elements such as that of the 20 million publications, only one percent are original, compared to 71 percent of retweets, 22 percent of responses and five percent of mentions, approximately.

Another fact that in his opinion confirms the use of bots (robots or automated accounts) is the emission of millions of tweets with the same spelling errors.

The coordinated activation coincides in time with two articles published on January 30 and 31 by international media, one of them Propublica, which were massively disseminated on X (previously, Twitter) by an opposition troll center, the study noted, released this Wednesday.

According to the report, only 40 percent of the messages are published in Mexico, while the rest come from abroad, especially from Argentina, Colombia and Spain.
