President pays tribute to oldest Venezuelan citizen who died

Caracas, Apr 3 (Prensa Latina) President Nicolas Maduro paid tribute to Juan Vicente Perez Mora, recognized as the world's oldest living man, who died at the age of 114 in the state of Tachira, in northwestern Venezuela.

“He has transcended into eternity at the age of 114, a Tachira native from the town of El Cobre who gave Venezuela the Guinness Record for being the world’s oldest living man,” the president wrote on his X account on Tuesday night.

Maduro sent his embrace and condolences to his relatives and all the people from El Cobre, in the state of Tachira. “May God receive him in his holy glory!” he noted.

Perez Mora passed away in San Jose de Bolivar on Tuesday, after a long life dedicated from a very young age to coffee, sugarcane and fruit farm work.

Revered and loved by relatives and acquaintances, this man, who was born on May 27, 1909, was married for 60 years to Ediofina del Rosario García, who died at the age of 81, after having 11 children, five of whom died before him, and was survived by 41 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

A report in 2022 by the newspaper La Nación of San Cristóbal, in Tachira, showed five preserved identity cards of the world’s oldest living man, a title that he received that same year by Guinness World Records.
