Colombian capital hosts ECLAC science meeting

Bogotá, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) More than 20 delegations of member countries of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will meet in Bogotá for two days to establish the region's guidelines regarding science, technology and innovation.

The inauguration of the 4th Meeting of the ECLAC Conference on Science, Innovation and Information and Communications Technologies, which will be chaired by President Gustavo Petro, will establish the cooperation guidelines for the 2024-2025 period.

During the gathering, topics will be addressed such as the structural vision of the socioeconomic situation of Latin America and the opportunities for sustainable development and the scientific-technical look at the challenges faced by each country from the possibilities of strategic investment in science, technology, and innovation.

The paths of articulation between the private and public sectors and actors of the territories and other issues of great relevance for the region will also be discussed.

The Minister of Sciences of Colombia, Yesenia Olaya, considered that this meeting is an opportunity for Colombia to be a reference in scientific and technological matters and, in turn, promote these sectors as an engine of productive, sustainable, and inclusive development in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Conference, which 23 delegations are expected to attend, will conclude on Friday.
