Havana, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel is chairing the closing session of the 12th Congress of the Young Communist League (UJC), which has taken place at Havana's Convention Center.

For three days, some 400 delegates and about 100 guests debated how to improve the work of the organization and its support for the new generations.

On Wednesday, the amendments to the UJC statutes were approved in order to energize the life of the organization, consolidate it as a real vanguard, expand its scope and influence, and improve political-ideological work.

Under the slogan “Create your happiness”, this 12th UJC Congress celebrates the 62nd anniversary of the organization, founded by the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, on April 4, 1962, exactly one year after the creation of the José Martí Pioneers Organization (OPJM).

Also present at the closing of the event are the president of the National People’s Power Assembly (parliament), Esteban Lazo; Prime Minister Manuel Marrero; the secretary of Organization of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC), Roberto Morales; Commanders of the Revolution Ramiro Valdés and Guillermo García, and Rebel Army Commander José Ramón Machado.
