Havana Film Festival will exhibit Latin American cinema

New York, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) The 24th Havana Film Festival in New York will exhibit more than 35 Latin American motion pictures from April 12 to 18.

Hosted at the Quad Cinema, the emblematic event will screen films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Peru, Panama, Uruguay, and other countries of the regions, most of which will be world and local premieres.

Filmmakers and renowned figures from Latin American cinema, including Luciano Castillo, director of the Cinematheque of Cuba, are expected to participate in the festival.

The event’s agenda, to which Prensa Latina had access, promises captivating stories to stimulate the mind and create meaningful dialogues.

From suspense, adventure, and social justice to music and romance, the Festival features films that have received international recognition and prestigious awards.

The event will open with the premiere in New York of “Mujer Salvaje” (Wild Woman), the first movie by Cuban filmmaker Alan González, on April 12, and will conclude with the special screening of the documentary “Igualada” by Colombian director Juan Mejia Botero, on April 18.

The Havana Film Festival will pay tribute to Cuban filmmakers Nicolás Guillén Landrián and Tomás Gutierrez Alea.
