Judge José Rodrigo Sade of the TRE voted on Wednesday to annul the mandate and disqualify Moro for eight years. He is a member of the conservative Brazil Union party.
There is a tie with Sade’s opinion. After the tie, Judge Claudia Cristina Cristofani requested a hearing (more time to analyze) and suspended the trial, which will resume on Monday, April 8.
If the TRE overturns the decision, Moro will not leave office immediately because the defense team could appeal to the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE).
But if the TSE upholds the possible revocation, new elections will be called in Paraná to fill the vacancy of the senator, who will be ineligible until 2030.
The analysis in the TSE of Paraná started on Monday when Judge Luciano Carrasco Falavinha Souza, the rapporteur of the case, spoke out against the cassation.
