Venezuela and Cuba review migration flow between both countries

Caracas, Apr 5 (Prensa Latina) Delegations from Venezuela and Cuba met in Caracas to review the pattern of the migration flow between the two countries, and addressed consular issues of interest to both governments, an official source reported on Friday.

The 6th Round of Migration Talks was chaired by the Venezuelan Deputy for the Caribbean, Raúl Lí Causi, his counterpart from Cuba, Josefina Vidal; Ambassador in Caracas Dagoberto Rodríguez, among other officials.

The meeting was useful to analyze “possible solutions” to the problems that our people may face when it comes to immigration matters, especially the crimes associated to it, the Cuban Embassy in Venezuela published on Facebook.

It stated that the meeting took place at a “very complicated time due to the blockade and aggression policy” that both nations are facing.

Vidal wrote on her X account that the meeting ended with the reaffirmation of the both countries’ will to “continue to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the immigration and consular field,” with a view to guaranteeing a regular, orderly and safe flow of travelers.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Cuban Foreign Ministry informed that the two delegations would analyze the state of the migration flow between both countries, in addition to verifying the compliance with the Agreement on Migration Matters and the Memorandum of Understanding for the Exchange of Migration Alerts and Security Information, as effective instruments to achieve regular, orderly and safe migration. The meeting will be conducive to reiterating the importance of this kind of event for the ties between Venezuela and Cuba, the press release stressed.
