French National Assembly to consider friendship group with Palestine

Paris, Apr 27 (Prensa Latina) The Bureau of the National Assembly of France will vote on May 15 if the current Group of Studies on Palestine can become a parliamentary group of friendship, the press publishes today.

According to the Franceinfo channel, several deputies favor the idea, without the degrees of support or opposition, to it being clear for the moment.

One of these legislators in favor is the president of the Finance Commission, Éric Coquerel (La France Insoumise), who considered that the Friendship Group would be one more step in favor of the recognition of Palestine as a State.

A Study Group is for a people, a Friendship Group is for a State, he said.

The escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in recent months, following the Hamas attack on October 7 and Israel’s indiscriminate response against the Gaza Strip and its inhabitants, has triggered attention on Gallic soil to the scenario in the Middle East, which has a clear reflection among members of both houses of Parliament.
