China promotes talks between Fatah and Hamas for Palestinian unity

Beijing, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) China confirmed that the Palestinian National Liberation Movement (Fatah) and the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) held talks and obtained "positive progress."

This was confirmed by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman, Lin Jian, who, at a press conference, described the dialogue as frank and deep. According to the spokesman, both sides held consultations on Palestinian internal reconciliation and “expressed their political will to resolve their differences through dialogue and negotiation” at the invitation of China.

Lin Jian assured that the two parties addressed numerous issues, made positive progress, and agreed to continue the talks. Fattah and Hamas appreciated Beijing’s support for the Palestinian people’s cause to regain their legitimate national rights.

The Foreign Ministry pledged on several occasions to carry out “tireless efforts” to end the war in Gaza as soon as possible, ease the humanitarian situation, promote the implementation of the two-state solution, and achieve lasting peace in the Middle East. “There are many injustices in the world, but the injustice against Palestine has lasted for half a century. It should not continue,” Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said recently.

In addition to the ceasefire and humanitarian assistance, China advocates for adopting the two-state resolution, which would mean recognizing Palestine as a state.
