Japanese agency is interested in collaborating with MIPYMES in Cuba

Havana, Apr 30 (Prensa Latina) The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) announced on Tuesday its interest in collaborating with the Cuban private enterprise (MIPYMES) Tiempo de Luz SURL.

That small and medium-sized enterprise (MIPYMES) specializes in producing and commercializing analog wooden wrist and wall clocks.

Ernesto Barrios, owner of the Tiempo de Luz company, added this Tuesday that after meeting with the Japanese company’s leading executives, he learned they hope to accompany his company to promote the country’s economic and social development.

He stated that he is already marketing some of its watches, which have been purchased by foreign diplomats who are working in Cuba, such as British Sir George Hollingbery and Peruvian Gonzalo Flavio Guillén Beker. The latter is particularly interested in products that can be decorated with drawings and figures of the Nasca culture.

Barrios mentioned a meeting for World Entrepreneurs’ Day, held on April 16, in the presence of Hollingbery, who commented that every day is a reason to honor and accompany the enthusiastic, resilient, and courageous Cuban entrepreneurs.

Some mirror clocks with characters from The Lord of the Rings, an epic high fantasy novel written by British philologist and writer J.R.R. Tolkien, and Tic Tac the Crocodile, a character in Walt Disney’s animated feature film Peter Pan were presented in that meeting.

Barrios handed over to the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) authorities 130 models destined for the International Tourism Fair, FitCuba 2024, which will be held at the Jardines del Rey recreation center, located in the country’s north-central region from May 1 to 5.
