French university students in Paris express solidarity with Palestine

Paris, May 3 (Prensa Latina) Hundreds of French university students and activists demonstrated today in front of the Pantheon in Paris their support for Palestine ahead of the Israel´s genocide over the Gaza Strip.

With Palestinian flags and banners, young people and teens took over the square of the emblematic monument, where the remains of French personalities lay.

Among slogans launched by demonstrators were accusations of Israel as murderous and genocidal, criticism of the government, including President Emmanuel Macron, for not stopping the crimes in Gaza and support for the movement in U.S. universities in support of Palestine.

The police safely evicted about 100 people from the university, whose management decided to close several sites because of the protests, which included a hunger strike.

on Thursday, Sciences Po hosted a debate on the situation in the Middle East, called for by students; however, the center’s Palestine Committee noted dissatisfaction with the results, in particular the refusal to meet its demand that the university cut ties with Israeli institutions.

Universities in Lyon, Lille, Rennes and other cities have also seen actions in recent days in support of Palestine due to the prevailing crisis in Gaza, an enclave indiscriminately attacked by Israel in retaliation for the Hamas attack of October 7.
