Havana, May 6 (Prensa Latina) President of Cuba Miguel Díaz-Canel on Monday celebrated the world record achieved in Cuba by a giant Rueda de Casino (Casino round dance), in which 2,946 dancers participated in 142 rounds of that popular dance.

The head of State noted the significance of the artistic event, which took place on Sunday in several Cuban squares to show the culture, identity and joy of our people.

Díaz-Canel acknowledged the efforts made by its organizers, whom he congratulated for the hard work they did for months to break the record at the national and global levels.

After achieving this success, Cuban cultural promoters have set their sights on breaking the Guinness Record in November, organizers of the dance festival commented.

According to journalistic sources, the challenge on this occasion consisted of participating in two modalities: the record for the largest number of people dancing in Ruedas de Casino simultaneously throughout the country and the record for the largest number of Ruedas de Casino at the same time.
