Serbia-China cooperation moves to a higher level

Belgrade, May 8 (Prensa Latina) President Aleksandar Vucic stated on Wednesday that the level of relations between Serbia and China has moved to a level that is higher than that of the strategic partnership.

Thanks to Beijing’s support, Belgrade is growing and making progress, the Serbian president said during negotiations with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, who is on an official visit here.

Xi arrived in Belgrade on May 7 for his first visit in eight years, during which he expects to discuss the international and regional situation with his Serbian counterpart.

We await progress in our cooperation, which we will raise with a joint declaration from the strategic partnership level to a future level, so I am glad and grateful to President Xi for the support given to Serbia,” Vucic stressed.

According to him, the two heads of State discussed, at a previous meeting, a free trade agreement with China and issues related to industry, science, innovation, artificial intelligence, cooperation in the military sector, agriculture, energy, infrastructure, and culture.

We first discussed the international exhibition Belgrade Expo 2027 and received assurance that China, with its experience and presence, will confidently and firmly support our exhibition, which is an opportunity for Serbia’s growth and future progress, he added.

On the eve of Xi’s visit here, Minister of Domestic and Foreign Trade Tomislav Momirović stressed that cooperation between Belgrade and Beijing had gone beyond the level of strategic partnership and reached a new higher level.
