Alvaro Delgado and Yamandu Orsi favorites for Uruguay’s internal elec

Montevideo, May 9 (Prensa Latina) Just a few weeks left to go to the internal elections in Uruguay, the pre-candidates Alvaro Delgado, for the National Party, and Yamandu Orsi, of the Broad Front, are now ahead of the other contenders.

This is according to data from the Factum pollster, the results of which were released on Thursday.

The internal elections will decide the parties’ presidential candidates that will participate in the national elections on October 27.

On June 30, voters are summoned to the polls, but it will be a voluntary invitation, unlike the national elections, where voting is compulsory.

The scenarios presented may have typical variations of polls in terms of margins of error and the evolution of public opinion, in addition to the possible turnout, Factum cleared up.

However, the firm’s latest poll indicates that Delgado, a former presidential secretary, attracts almost seven out of 10 National Party voters.

Alvaro Delgado leads the white party with 68% of the vote, ahead of economist Laura Raffo with 21%.

In the opposition Broad Front, Yamandu Orsi has 54% of the vote for the left-wing alliance.

Behind him is the mayor of Montevideo (on leave), Carolina Cosse, to whom the pollster gives 38%.

If the current projections are maintained, Alvaro Delgado and Yamandu Orsi would be the favorite candidates for the Uruguayan presidency.

In the 2019 elections, the Broad Front won in the first round. In the run-off vote, incumbent Luis Lacalle Pou won, at the head of a coalition of parties that has been governing since March 2020.
