DPRK leader conveys ‘firm support and solidarity’ to Russia

Pyongyang, May 9 (Prensa Latina) The leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), Kim Jong Un, today expressed his support for Russia in his message to President Vladimir Putin on Victory Day.

In the missive, reproduced by the state-run ACNC news agency, the chairman of the State Affairs Committee expressed his ‘firm support and solidarity with Russia’s sacred cause’.

The also secretary general of the Workers’ Party praised Putin as a leader of efforts to defend Russia’s sovereignty against ‘ruthless challenges and threats from hostile forces’, referring to the special operation in Ukraine.

I hope that you and the brave Russian Army and people will win a new victory in the struggle to defeat the hegemonic policy and imperialists’ high-handedness, he wrote.

He also offered his ‘warm congratulations and comradely greetings’ to the Russian leader on the occasion of Victory Day, which is celebrated this Thursday in the European nation to mark the final victory in the Great Patriotic War.

Kim stressed that this event ‘occupies the brightest place in the history’ of Russia in the ‘decisive battles against fascism, which cruelly trampled on the destiny of mankind’.

In an earlier message, the DPRK leader congratulated Putin on the occasion of his inauguration as president and wished him further success in his responsibilities to the Russian state and people for another six years.
