The national television reported that the president bestowed the honorary title of Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba on José Alberto González, president of the “Paquito Gonzalez” Agricultural Production Cooperative in Baragua municipality, Ciego de Avila.

Diaz-Canel also awarded the 17 de Mayo Order to six other outstanding rural workers with a relevant work history within ANAP.

Other workers and leaders closely associated with the peasant organization were awarded the Romárico Cordero Medal, the Antero Regalado Medal, and the José Ramírez Cruz Special Seal during the ceremony.

A group of leaders also received a diploma of recognition as outstanding cadres.

The awarding ceremony to the ANAP workers is part of the activities to celebrate Farmers’ Day on May 17.
