More rains will extend tragedy in damaged Brazilian state

Brasilia, May 17 (Prensa Latina) The affected Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, especially in the northern half of the state, will face more rainfall records in the next seven to 10 days, which, until today, has caused 151 deaths.

According to MetSul Meteorology, the only national private company in the sector, the first episode of instability has already started and occurred yesterday, and this Friday precipitations and drizzle from the Center are expected for the North of the territory.

The heavy rains in several points of the Northern Half on Thursday morning increased the instability from the afternoon to the evening. In the west and further south, the weather remains dry.

In the Northern Half, the weather remains unstable, with rain for this Friday and the highest volumes between the Upper Uruguay and the Middle Planalto.

According to the source, rainfall in points of the North and Northeastern Gaucho may reach 50 to 100 millimeters (mm) in several cities, especially in La Sierra.

Such volumes should cause a new rise in the rivers, but a second burst of filling or overflowing will not be as significant as the one at the beginning of the week.
