Photo book by Roberto Chile launched in Havana

Havana, May 17 (Prensa Latina) The Fayad Jamís bookstore, on Havana's Obispo Street, is launching the book “Donde anida la poesía” (Where Poetry Nests), which contains a score of photos by Roberto Chile about a similar number of poems.

Inspired by each of these images by the renowned visual artist, the poems were written by consecrated figures of Cuba’s literature like Miguel Barnet, Nancy Morejón, Waldo Leyva or Basilia Papastamatiú.

The Bachiller publishing house was in charge of printing the book, which also includes the unpublished poem Cauces, written by Chile in 1991 and which has no image about it.

Winner of the José Martí National Journalism Award and the Distinction for National Culture, among many other acknowledgements, Chile has a prolific career that began to transcend in the early 1980s.

First, he was a cameraman and editor, and then he became director and photographer at the Publications Office of the Council of State, where he has documented the revolutionary work of the Historic leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro. The team was headed for years by historian Pedro Alvarez, and it is now led by Chile himself.

As Fidel’s personal cameraman, he has bequeathed to future generations documentaries and reports of high historical, journalistic and artistic value, an archive that is part of the audiovisual memory of the Cuban nation.
