Belgium pledges to send 30 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine

Brussels, May 28 (Prensa Latina) Prime Minister Alexander de Croo and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reached a military cooperation agreement on Tuesday, including delivering 30 F-16 fighter jets to Kyiv by 2028.

At a joint press briefing, the host president vowed that at least one of those fourth-generation aircraft would arrive in Ukraine before ending 2024.

De Croo stated that the F-16 pact includes maintenance of the aircraft, with Belgium joining Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway in the so-called coalition to supply these US fighters to Ukraine.

The Belgian Prime Minister also announced military assistance in the maritime sector, mine clearance, artillery, and armored vehicles, with around 1 billion euros to be disbursed in 2024 as part of the agreement, which Zelensky welcomed.
