Colombia and the US to review issues on bilateral relationship

Bogotá, May 28 (Prensa Latina) The 11th High-Level Dialogue (DAN) between Colombia and the United States will begin in the capital of Colombia to review issues of their bilateral relationship.

The meeting, which will last two days, will be chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, Luis Gilberto Murillo, and the Undersecretary of State for Administration and Resources of the United States, Richard Verma.

According to a statement released by the Foreign Ministry, Colombian government officers and their US counterparts will discuss issues of mutual interest in the eight working groups that form the bilateral mechanism, in which commitments will be reached in various spheres, which include Rural Transformation; Public diplomacy, environment and climate change; Energy, mining and infrastructure; Peace, democracy and human rights; Security, anti-narcotics and rural development; Migration; Health and Information and Communication Technologies.

On the sidelines, two parallel conversations with civil society and the private sector of both countries will be held to promote the exchange of specific proposals and the participation of actors in the bilateral relationship.

The Dialogue with civil society will address climate change issues and its impact on environmental justice and the ethnic-racial sphere, regarding the recent designation of Colombia as the host country of the Biodiversity Summit (COP16), to be held in October, this year.

The talks with the private sector will focus on three topics: popular economy and rural transformation, energy transition, and technological transformation.
