Israeli attacks on Syria lead to casualties

Damascus, May 29 (Prensa Latina) Two Israeli rocket attacks on western and central Syria made on Wednesday amount the death toll and injured in that nation.

Local activists reported heavy rocket fire on trucks in the al-Furklos area in the east of the central Syrian province of Homs, some 200 kilometers northeast of the capital.

Batteries of anti-aircraft defenses intercepted some of the projectiles and the impact of the remaining ones destroyed and burned several trucks.

Sources said the road between Deir Ezzor and Homs was cut off after the attack to remove the aftermath of the assault and evacuate corpses and wounded.

Another assault occurred in the coastal town of Banias, killing several civilians, including a minor, and causing material damage to houses.

On May 25, Israeli drones attacked two vehicles belonging to the Syrian Army and its allies in the town of Qusseir, near the border with Lebanon, some 200 kilometers northwest of the capital, killing one person and injuring another, as well as destroying the two cars.

Meanwhile, on May 20, Israeli fighter jets fired missiles at Syrian Army and allied positions in the same town of Qusseir, slaughtering four people and injuring several others, as well as causing colossal material losses. Israel constantly bombards Syrian territory under the pretext of attacking pro-Iranian militias, while Damascus claims that those attacks are a violation of its sovereignty and international law.

Syrian Foreign Ministry urged the UN Security Council to fulfill its responsibilities and put an end to those aggressions.
