Nicaraguan Gov’t shares China’s position on Ukraine

Managua, May 30 (Prensa Latina) Nicaragua reported on Thursday that it shares China's position on the political solution to the crisis in Ukraine, and supports the consensus on this issue in a joint communiqué between China and Brazil.

On a message sent to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, the Sandinista Government called for respect for the three principles for de-escalation, such as non-extension of the battlefield, non-escalation of the fighting and non-provocation by any of the sides.

According to Nicaragua, dialogue and negotiation are the only viable solution to the crisis in Ukraine, and urged the sides to create conditions for the resumption of direct talks and to promote de-escalation until a comprehensive ceasefire is achieved.

‘We support holding at an appropriate time an international peace conference, recognized by both Russia and Ukraine, with equal participation of all sides and a fair discussion of all peace plans,’ he stressed.

He added that efforts are needed to soar humanitarian assistance to the relevant regions and prevent a larger-scale humanitarian crisis.

In addition, attacks on civilians and their facilities should be prevented and women, children and prisoners of war should be protected, he added that they support the exchange of prisoners of war between the sides of the conflict.
