Russia launches Progress MS-27 cargo spacecraft into orbit

Moscow, May 30 (Prensa Latina) The Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle hast put the Progress MS-27 cargo spacecraft into orbit, the Russian Space Agency, Roscosmos, informed today.

Next June 1, the spacecraft will make an approach to the International Space Station (ISS), and docking with the small research module Poisk is scheduled for that same day, Roscosmos specified on its official Telegram site.

The rocket carries images dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the birth of Aleksei Leonov, the first man to go into outer space, and the 300th anniversary of St. Petersburg State University.

The rocket body also carries the symbols of the Russian Student Brigades, which this year celebrates its 65th anniversary. In addition, the transport cargo ship will take to the ISS the flag of the anniversary year of the Russian Student Brigades.

The cargo ship will also carry 2,504 kilograms of cargo to the ISS, including 1,290 kilograms of apparatus and equipment for the station’s systems, clothing, food, and medical and sanitary supplies for the crew of the 71st long-term expedition.

It also conveys 754 kilograms of fuel to refill the station, 420 kilograms of drinking water for the cosmonauts, and 40 kilograms of nitrogen to replenish the ISS atmosphere.
