Sri Lankans continue to reject US aggressiveness against Cuba

Colombo, May 30 (Prensa Latina) Senior leaders of the Sri Lanka-Cuba Friendship Association on Thursday reiterated their rejection of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 60 years.

At a meeting with Cuban Ambassador to Colombo Andres Gonzalez, DMP Dissanayake, secretary of the Association; and Wilfred Jayasinghe, a member of the solidarity group, called to remove Cuba from Washington’s unilateral States Sponsors of Terrorism list.

Dissanayake and Jayasinghe, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Sri Lanka, ratified their support for and friendship with Cuba.

Meanwhile, the Cuban ambassador thanked the Sri Lanka-Cuba Friendship Association for its support that the Caribbean island has always received from that group.

In recent days, several Sri Lankan organizations from different sectors of society have expressed their support for the claim from Cuba and the international community for the elimination of the US unjust designation of Cuba.

They stressed that this categorization is absurd and arbitrary due to Cuba’s support for the struggle for peace and against terrorism of all kinds.

Cuba has demonstrated an unquestionable commitment to the Colombian peace process.

Cuba’s cooperation has proven to be selfless, supportive and respectful of the countries’ sovereignty, the group of legislators assured.
