Cold weather affects the mosquito and dengue takes a break in Uruguay

Montevideo, May 31 (Prensa Latina) Low temperatures affect the Aedes aegypti mosquito and in the last few days dengue took a break in Uruguay, with no records of new infections, it was reportedly stated. The Ministry of Public Health (MPH) informed of zero cases after 1,111 ones in the last months, 701 of them autochthonous and 410 imported.

Forty-three people are still pending investigation, 31 of them with no history of travel abroad.

There were no patients hospitalized due to the disease, and there were four deaths during the period.

The MPH does not rule out the appearance of new imported cases, as the disease is still present in the Caribbean and Brazil. In addition, the winter vacations are approaching, when many people travel here.

The Minister of Health, Karina Rando, participates in the World Health Organization Assembly at its headquarters in Geneva.

There she met with health ministers from the region with dengue as an agenda item.
