Haiti’s transition council welcomes Sheinbaum’s victory in Mexico

Port-au-Prince, June 5 (Prensa Latina) The Presidential Transition Council of Haiti (CPT) today welcomed the victory of candidate Claudia Sheinbaum in the Mexican general elections.

The CPT recognized the historic nature of this victory, which puts a woman at the head of State affairs for the first time, according to the official results of the National Electoral Institute.

Haiti is willing to work with the new president of the United Mexican States to revitalize cooperation with the Aztec nation, underlines the statement from the body released by newspaper Haiti Libre.

The representative of the coalition of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena), Labor and the Green Ecologist group became the first woman to win the Presidency of Mexico last Sunday.

According to the preliminary results program of the electoral authority, Sheinbaum obtained 59.35 percent of the votes, which represents a wide lead compared to the 27.90 achieved by her closest contender Xóchitl Gálvez, from the opposition coalition Force and Heart for Mexico.

Surveys in recent months anticipated this result, giving Sheinbaum, standard bearer of the National Regeneration Movement, Labor and Green Ecologist formations, more than 20 points ahead of Gálvez, of the National Action, Institutional Revolutionary and the Democratic Revolution.
