Cuba’s Interior Ministry celebrates its 63rd anniversary

1-2-1-2
Havana, Jun 6 (Prensa Latina) The Ministry of the Interior (MININT), an institution that has watched over national security and citizen tranquility in Cuba, is celebrating its 63rd anniversary on Thursday.

The founding of the MININT was an early response by the leaders of the Cuban Revolution, which triumphed on January 1, 1959, to the growing aggressiveness of the Government of the United States, which hatched dozens of plots to overthrow it.

The Ministry of the Interior was officially established on June 6, 1961, bringing together the human and material resources of different dispersed organizations, until that date, to concentrate efforts and experience and defend the country against the undeclared war being waged by the White House.

The dependencies of the then Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Justice, related to preserving internal order and security in the nation, were integrated into the newly formed military institution.

Afterward, the MININT continued strengthening its chain of command, subordinating other dependencies, including the Fire and Forest Ranger Corps, the Canine Technique, the Border Guard Troops, and the National Special Brigade.
