Cuba-China relations are at their best, says Cuban FM

Havana, June 9 (Prensa Latina) Relations between Cuba and China are nowadays at their best moment, and a glorious future has just begun to continue these bilateral ties, Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez said.

In an interview with the China Global Television Network (CGTN), Bruno Rodriguez stressed that a close friendship was forged between the peoples, which lays on their respective experiences in building socialism with national characteristics.

The Cuban diplomat also heaped praise on the enormous coincidences in the bilateral agendas of international development.

Rodríguez commented that Cuba is presently working so hard to roll out President Xi Jinping’s proposal to build a China-Cuba community with a shared future.

Such an idea, he pointed out, shows the excellent state of bilateral relations, the broad development potential and a long history in common.

He stated his country closely follows and actively participates in major Chinese initiatives such as the Belt and Road and others associated with development, security, civilization and data protection.

Likewise, he specified that Cuba gives great priority to bilateral projects in the field of renewable energies, agri-food, development of the biopharmaceutical industry and genetic engineering and biotechnology.

“In relation to openings that the Cuban economy offers to Chinese investment, I am sure that we will find fields to continue developing in a dynamic and accelerated manner our ties that are already excellent today,” he said.

Rodríguez indicated that it is of interest for Cuba to strengthen academic, cultural, scientific and tourist links with China.

“We expect the increase in Chinese tourism and by tradition, due to our special, historical and current ties, the Chinese will always receive a warm and friendly welcome in Cuba,” said Rodríguez. Pll/rgh/mks
