Cuban agricultural products promoted in French market

Marseille, France, Jun 10 (Prensa Latina) A business delegation from the Cuban province of Cienfuegos presented today at the Chamber of Commerce of Marseille a dozen agricultural products with chances of reaching the French market for their quality, flavor and freshness.

Commercial authorities and representatives of several importing companies from the southern Mediterranean city attended the event, who recognized the quality of fruits and tubers in display, and showed willingness to hold talks with a view to eventual future business.

Mango, mamey, guava, pineapple, Persian lime, cucumber, hot bell pepper, sweet potato, turmeric and ginger were among the products promoted, including tastings of some of them.

As a result of the meeting, the trip of a trade mission from Marseille to the Havana International Fair FIHAV-2024, to be held in early November, will continue the rapprochement.

It has been a very profitable visit, due to the issues addressed and the reception of the products, the deputy director of the Agroindustrial Company Cítricos Arimao, Isce Tellería, one of the members of the delegation from Cienfuegos, told Prensa Latina. He was accompanied here by the Cuban ambassador, Otto Vaillant, and the economic and commercial adviser Danae de Paz. Tellería said that charcoal, mango and hot bell pepper are already present in the French market, in small format, so the aspiration is to diversify the offer.

We see favorable prospects for expanding our trade relations on the French soil, where we will continue the presentation this week in Paris, said the official, who made the trip with the director of Foreign Trade, Foreign Investment and Cooperation of Cienfuegos, Yanet Gonzalez, and the Director of Science and Development of the Delegation of Agriculture, Liliana Mederos.

For her part, de Paz highlighted the chances of promoting bilateral cooperation in this sector and the quality of the products, grown in an ecological environment.

Ambassador Vaillant thanked the Marseille Chamber of Commerce, the oldest of its kind in the world (XVI century), and the opportunity to promote Cuban products and events that will take place in this Caribbean nation, particularly FIHAV-2024 and the international fair of Cienfuegos ExpoSur-2024.

We hope that new and good export opportunities for fruits and other Cuban agricultural products will come out of this visit, he stressed.
