In a message for the 65th anniversary of the agency´s founding next Friday 16, he also pointed out that, throughout the years, Prensa Latina has become the main source of factual information, genuine analysis and news that could combat the tremendous power of the corporate media which dominate our hemisphere.
The Guyanese political leader expressed his appreciation for the services it has provided “to our continent, our region, and further and beyond to the rest of the world”.
The establishment of Prensa Latina in 1959 was one of the most important steps taken by the Cuban revolution to be able to defend itself from media and ideological attacks in the political struggle that Cuba had to face, he added.
Practically, since the beginning, the revolution recognized that the battle of ideas is just as important as the political and economic struggle to maintain its stability, Ramotar stressed.
In his video message, the Guyanese politician said that Prensa Latina “is a living memorial of great leaders Fidel Castro and Ernesto Che Guevara, founders of the agency.
I wish you every success in the future as you begin another 65 years of struggle for truth, justice and sovereignty, he concluded.
