Havana, Jun 11 (Prensa Latina) Cuban authorities announced on Tuesday that they are working to modify the Labor Code and the Social Security Law as a sign of the State's commitment to the welfare and exercise of labor rights.

A report published in Granma newspaper on Tuesday adds that Labor and Social Security Minister, Marta Elena Feito, explained some elements about the matter on her X account.

Feito shared an excerpt of her statements during the International Labor Conference, an event held every June at the one-hundred-year-old International Labor Organization (ILO).

The 112th-session Conference, running through June 14, aims to adopt international labor standards and serve as a forum for discussing fundamental social and labor issues.

In the meeting, Cuba was re-elected as a deputy member of the ILO Governing Body for 2024-2027.

With 193 votes, Cuba has the highest support in its regional group.

Since 1959, Cuba has been a member of the Governing Body for 14 terms. It has demonstrated a constant commitment to tripartite dialogue and cooperation with ILO bodies, the Cuban Foreign Ministry (MINREX) stressed, quoted by the newspaper.

As a founding member of the ILO in 1919, Cuba has played an active role in the work of the Organization, adhering to the principle of tripartism and social dialogue, the note concluded.
