Sao Paulo Forum congratulates Prensa Latina on its 65th anniversary

Brasilia, Jun 18 (Prensa Latina) The Sao Paulo Forum, a mechanism for coordinating progressive parties and movements from 27 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, congratulated Prensa Latina news agency on its 65th anniversary.

Founded on June 16, 1959, the media constitutes an “important point of support to the Cuban revolutionary process”, states a note from the political articulation sent to the news agency in this capital.

Subscribed by Monica Valente, executive secretary of the forum, the text praises the essential role of the agency “for ethical information and at the service of the peoples”, as opposed to the hegemonic press that tries to control with its pro-market vision and the Global North.

On the contrary, the content states: “Thanks to the combative work of Prensa Latina, we can count on information from the point of view of the peoples of Our America and the Global South, our daily struggles and real needs”.

The forum reiterates in the document, its congratulations to the agency’s workers involved in the continuity and strengthening of its work, “an essential source of information for our freedom and the construction of a more just and socialist world”.
